Australian Guidelines for Urban Stormwater Management

    These guidelines aim to provide a nationally consistent approach for managing urban stormwater in an ecologically sustainable manner. The approach outlined in this document represent current best practice in stormwater planning and management in Australia. In particular, these guidelines will help managers to identify objectives for stormwater management (including protecting social, environmental and economic values) and to integrate management activities at the catchment, waterway, and local development level.

    The tools and approaches in these Guidelines will assist managers to undertake integrated stormwater management planning in accordance with the values and conditions of the local environment, while integrating these actives into the catchment context.
